The Longhorns benefited from a bye week during which the Nittany Lions lost to the Buckeyes.
The Texas Longhorns are back up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll on Sunday following the second bye week of the season as head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team prepares to host the Florida Gators next Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
With the then-No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions losing to the then-No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in State College on Saturday, the Longhorns were able to move back up in the polls again after sliding with the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs and the close win over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Bulldogs emerged as the No. 2 team once again this week after a closer-than-expected 24-20 win over the Gators in the World’s Largest Cocktail Party.
Other SEC teams in the Top 25 polls include No. 7/No. 6 Tennessee, No. 11 Alabama, No. 14/No. 13 LSU, No. 15/No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 16/No. 12 Ole Miss, No. 24/No. 25 Vanderbilt, and No. Missouri.
