Clemson continues to show interest in this standout Sunshine State wideout, and he is looking to show what he can do at camp this summer in hopes of ultimately earning an offer from the Tigers.
St. Augustine (Fla.) High School four-star receiver Carl Jenkins Jr. is set to work out at the Dabo Swinney Camp on June 5.
The rising senior recruit in the 2025 class is ready to put his talent and skills on display for Clemson’s staff.
“Everything that you’re looking for, I have, from the hands, route-running,” Jenkins told The Clemson Insider. “I’m mainly a deep-threat guy, a big outside guy, standing at 6-2, 6-3, 180. So I’m really like a big outside guy that really gets jiggy and gets real shifty for my height and my weight. I like to call myself ‘Megatron’… because I see myself as a really explosive receiver.”
Jenkins showed off that explosiveness during a strong junior season in 2023, when he racked up 62 catches for 1,273 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Clemson has been in contact with Jenkins since the fall, and he named the Tigers among the teams that he feels have been recruiting him the hardest, along with schools like Illinois, Mississippi State, UCF and Louisville.
“I know the process of what [Clemson is] trying to do with me, and a lot of coaches are not like that. Like, coaches, they’ll lead you on and really just tell you this and that,” Jenkins said. “But Clemson has really been straightforward with me and telling me what they want in me to get where I want to be. So basically, it’s just a good relationship with them, and I’m just really thankful for them to be recruiting me.”
Tyler Grisham is the coach from Clemson that Jenkins communicates most with, and Jenkins certainly has a lot of respect for the Tigers’ receivers coach.
“I really love him,” Jenkins said. “I really love the way he is straight-up with recruits… He’s going to tell you the truth, even if it hurts. So, I really love the way he just keeps it real with me. That’s one thing that really sticks out. He’s a great guy, great personality, great coach obviously on the field. The record shows, and just the history that he has really shows.”
Jenkins lists more than 30 total scholarship offers, including offers from schools such as Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Texas A&M, UCF, USF, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Jenkins has locked in official visits with UCF, Louisville and Illinois, while USF is also currently slated to get one of his official visits in June.
Jenkins plans to announce his commitment date in a few weeks. He said an offer from Clemson would significantly impact his recruitment if the Tigers were to pull the trigger, and he detailed the appeal of Dabo Swinney’s program.
“I like the way that they don’t just throw out offers left and right to guys and if they offer you, then it’s a real process and they really want you. It’s just a program that I really like the way they do things,” he said. “Obviously coach Dabo, he’s a really good coach, really good history in the way that he does things at Clemson, and (Grisham), he’s a really great guy. I just like the way Clemson does stuff with their whole program, and it could really impact my whole recruitment if they offer me.”
