A potential crossover between the WNBA and WWE just got a lot more interesting.
Nikki Bella has publicly teased a one-on-one match with Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham following comments made on Cunningham’s Show Me Something podcast that quickly caught the wrestling world’s attention.
During the episode, Cunningham revealed she grew up as a WWE fan and didn’t hesitate to name John Cena as “the absolute best.” She also confirmed that WWE has already reached out to her in the past about a possible future in professional wrestling—suggesting that crossover talks aren’t just hypothetical.
When co-host Bryanna Sompayrac asked what her wrestling name would be, Cunningham admitted she hasn’t settled on one yet—but promised it would fit her personality.
“I don’t know what my name would be. I know it would be something spicy and feisty,” Cunningham said.
The conversation soon shifted to dream opponents, and Cunningham name-checked The Bella Twins, saying she’d be equally excited to team with them or face them across the ring.
“I think it would be fun to either partner with them or go against them,” she said.
Then came the playful warning.
“Well, I’m hopefully going to take away their shine someday.”
That comment didn’t go unnoticed.
Nikki Bella responded directly in the comments section with a confident challenge of her own:
“I’ll take her on one on one… 💋🙌🏼”
Cunningham’s reputation as one of the WNBA’s toughest enforcers—often stepping in to protect teammate Caitlin Clark during physical moments—has already made fans draw comparisons to a wrestling-style persona. Her on-court intensity, fearlessness, and physicality only add fuel to the crossover speculation.
WWE isn’t the only promotion paying attention either. Women of Wrestling (WOW) reportedly reached out to Cunningham earlier this year about a potential role, further signaling that a move into the ring could be a real possibility down the line.
Whether it’s playful banter or the early stages of something bigger, the idea of Sophie Cunningham stepping into a wrestling ring—and potentially squaring off with Nikki Bella—has suddenly gone from far-fetched
