Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark have been tied together for years, whether they asked for it or not. From college clashes to WNBA stardom, the comparisons — and the rivalry talk — have followed them at every turn, fueling nonstop debates across women’s basketball fandom.

Now, Bueckers is finally addressing the rivalry narrative head-on.
Appearing on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast, the Dallas Wings phenom made it clear that the version of events fans have built doesn’t match reality.
> “It’s crazy ’cause like everybody’s pinned me and Caitlin against each other for the longest time and we’re cool, like we’re friends,” Bueckers said. “But again, it’s respect for the competition. We understand how the media works and how they want to pin two people against each other.”
While the players themselves insist there’s mutual respect, the divide between their fan bases remains loud and impossible to ignore — especially online, where debates regularly spiral into full-blown arguments.
That tension may soon be put to the test.
Bueckers and Clark are set to suit up together for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup in September, forcing two fiercely loyal fan groups to cheer for the same jersey. The pair has already shared the court during USA Basketball’s senior camp at Duke University, offering a glimpse of what their partnership could look like on the international stage.
> “To have like two fan bases that really hate each other have to come together for a couple of months would be really fun,” Bueckers added.
Whether fans are ready to let go of the rivalry is another question entirely — but for now, Paige Bueckers has made one thing clear: the feud exists far more in the spotlight than it does between the lines.
