Enzo Maresca seems to have won the three-horse race to become next Chelsea manager, beating out Kieran McKenna (who will instead strike it with a new deal at Ipswich Town) and Roberto De Zerbi (who will instead keep doing nothing, for now).
Initial reports on Monday claimed that a two-year deal with an option for a third was awaiting the next boss, just as had awaited the outgoing boss, but reports later in the day had increased that length to not just three, but to five — and a “minimum” of five, as per The Athletic.
Do we know that amortization doesn’t apply to staff contracts — even if we will be paying a £8-10m transfer fee in essence? The data on Maresca, pored over for 17 hours a day must be just the absolute greatest!

Graham Potter was given a five-year deal as well, making that situation all the more painful in every sense. Guess we need to learn this expensive lesson twice?
Reports agree that we want to finalize the deal this week, and have the new head coach in place soon.
