Clemson has shown early interest in a talented young in-state prospect whose recruitment has started to take off this spring.
Catawba Ridge High School (Fort Mill, S.C.) class of 2027 cornerback Joshua Dobson added an ACC offer last week from Virginia Tech, to go with other offers this month from NC State, South Carolina and UConn.
Duke and Indiana gave Dobson his first two offers in April.
“The recruiting process is going great,” Dobson told The Clemson Insider.
“I am enjoying the process and focusing on the work that still needs to be done in order for me to stay a top priority for any school that is interested in me,” he added.
Dobson is on Clemson’s radar early in the process, and cornerbacks coach Mike Reed has stopped by Dobson’s school to check up on him.
“Knowing that Coach Reed came to check on me made me feel excited to know that Clemson has interest in me,” he said.
Dobson attended Clemson’s youth football camp when he was younger, and now, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound rising sophomore is looking to camp with the Tigers again in June – this time as a power conference recruit who’s picking up steam.
“My family and I are currently looking at camp dates for me to visit this summer,” he said.
Of course, there’s a long way to go in Dobson’s recruitment, but the Palmetto State standout would love to receive an offer from Dabo Swinney’s program down the road.
“What stands out to me the most from Clemson’s program is the coaching and the winning culture at Clemson,” he said. “If given the opportunity to receive an offer from the Tigers down the road and knowing that the Tigers just don’t offer to just anyone, I would be extremely grateful and know that my hard work will continue to pay off.”
