We’re seemingly getting all the info on what’s happening with former members of the Seattle Seahawks’ 2013 Super Bowl team.
On Wednesday, we told you that defensive tackle Jordan Hill has returned to his alma mater Penn State as director of life skills. A little more locally, veteran wide receiver Sidney Rice is opening up a winery in Woodinville, about 20 miles northeast of Seattle in Snohomish County.
Puget Sound Business Journal has the details:
Sidney Rice and business partner Tim Lenihan will soon open the new tasting room for the winery, Dossier, at 15029 Woodinville Redmond Road NE, in the former Cascade Cliffs Vineyard and Winery space.
The duo founded the winery in 2021 alongside winemaker and consultant Billo Naravane. Its first tasting room, a 3,500-square-foot space in downtown Walla Walla, opened in October.
“When I first got into wine, I didn’t know anything about it. And the more I’ve learned, I know absolutely nothing about it,” Rice said to KING-5 NBC back in 2022.
The former Minnesota Vikings star signed with the Seahawks in a high-profile free agent move in 2011. Unfortunately, a mixture of injuries (including several concussions) and playing in a low-volume passing attack meant Rice never recaptured his 2009 form in Seattle. He amassed 97 catches for 1,463 yards and 12 touchdowns over three seasons. An ACL tear midway through 2013 meant that he was inactive for the Super Bowl, but he nevertheless ended his NFL career as a champion.
Rice isn’t the only notable person with a winery in Walla Walla. Former Washington State and NFL star Drew Bledsoe and actor Kyle MacLachlan have spaces in the same city. But are either of them expanding to Woodinville like Rice? Not to my knowledge.
