The Dallas Cowboys have officially parted ways with Trevon Diggs, ending a tumultuous 2025-26 season. The decision came after a brief reunion with his friend Micah Parsons on the Green Bay Packers, where Diggs struggled to make an impact. In the Wild Card loss to the Chicago Bears, he saw action for just one snap, and he has now been released, making him a free agent once again.
Diggs’ 2025 campaign highlighted a steep decline from his earlier form. The 27-year-old played in only nine games, starting seven, and failed to record a single interception or pass defensed. He finished the year with 27 tackles and one tackle for loss, a far cry from the production that earned him All-Pro honors in earlier seasons. Injuries and inconsistent performance clearly contributed to the Cowboys’ decision to move on.
Earlier in the season, Diggs faced benching that was attributed to injury, though he suggested it was a message about his uneven play. He also missed time following a concussion from a reported “accident” at home. Across his five-year, $97 million extension with Dallas, he appeared in only 21 of 53 games, recording just two interceptions—a performance that left both the team and fans concerned about his reliability.
Now a free agent, Diggs will need to determine where to rebuild his career. While his talent is undeniable, the brief Green Bay stint and injury history may make teams cautious. His next move will be critical for defining whether he can return to the elite level that once made him a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ secondary.
