Nikola Jokic is still taking home a trophy this June. It’s just not the kind that Denver Nuggets fans were expecting.
The Nuggets bowed out of the 2024 playoffs two rounds shy of the NBA Finals. The early vacation allowed Jokic to pursue his other passion: horse racing.
Jokic’s horse “Amsterdam” recently won a race in Sombor, Serbia. Jokic celebrated the win with fellow Serbian NBA player Bogdan Bogdanovic. Jokic carried his daughter on his broad shoulders while the Atlanta Hawks guard raised up the trophy.

The Joker has not been shy about his love of horses and horse racing. Jokic expressed legitimate concern last season about the Nuggets’ championship parade coinciding with one of his horse races in Serbia.
But given how dominant Jokic has been on the court, it’s impossible to question his dedication to basketball.
The Nuggets star won his third regular season MVP trophy in four years. He averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists on 58.3% shooting from the floor in 79 regular season games.
Jokic can now also add “horse racing champion” to his already extensive list of accolades.
