New Orleans Saints sophomore OL Nick Saldiveri left practice early with an apparent leg injury and did not return. Saints HC Dennis Allen confirmed the former fourth-round pick suffered a calf injury, though he did not disclose the significance.

Reps are extremely important for Saldiveri, who hasn’t seen the field much after an injury-plagued rookie season, resulting in him only playing 18 snaps in the four games he appeared in. Leaving the first day of padded practice with an injury is not ideal for the former Old Dominion Monarch’s development, especially while competing for a starting spot at LG. Saldiveri was sidelined with a calf injury during last season’s OTA’s as well.
Saldiveri was able to walk off the field under his own power, so hopefully we hear positive feedback when we learn of the significance. On the bright side, Saints G Shane Lemieux returned to practice on Monday, though he was limited. With New Orleans being so thin at offensive-line, having these guys healthy at camp is crucial for the team’s success in 2024.
