A few new players to the Rams roster will be highlighted on theRams.com in the lead-up to training camp. Brennan Jackson, a linebacker, will continue the series.
Newcomer update: Brennan Jackson
With the offseason program complete and Rams Training Camp presented by UNIFY Financial Credit Union starting up on July 23, it’s time to look ahead. As part of the preparation for training camp, theRams.com will be spotlighting a handful of players new to the Rams’ roster. Continuing the series is linebacker Brennan Jackson.
How He Got Here: The Rams selected Jackson 154th overall out of Washington State in this year’s draft.
What’s Next: Continuing to learn the defense and special teams. Jackson was more than willing to do both when discussing being drafted by Los Angeles. Even if his motor isn’t used in the outside linebacker rotation initially, there can certainly be a use for it on special teams, especially punt and kickoff coverage units.
Bet You Didn’t Know: Jackson was ranked 2nd by the Rams’ scouting staff for physical toughness in their pre-draft evaluation of prospects.
Quotable: “The biggest thing is staying who I am in terms of being relentless and an energy monster and being physical on the field, because that can never change,” Jackson said. “And then also just realizing this is going to be a whole new playbook, being a sponge with knowledge, and getting on special teams, be somehow that craves to be on the field to make big impact plays happen. There’s no better way than special teams early on, because those are game-changing plays. So bringing that same relentless motor and energy to all phases of the game is gonna help me stay here for a long time.” – Jackson after being drafted by the Rams on April 27
