WNBA guard Aari McDonald has eased concerns after suffering a brief injury scare during her return to competitive action with Breeze BC in the Unrivaled league.
McDonald, who built on a strong spell with the Indiana Fever last season, earned offseason interest that led to her signing with Unrivaled and joining Breeze BC alongside Paige Bueckers. Monday night marked her first game in nearly five months, following a season-ending injury that sidelined her during the Fever’s 2025 playoff run.
The return carried emotional significance for the point guard, who shared her excitement ahead of tip-off.
“Today is my first time playing in almost 5 months 🥹,” McDonald posted on X before the game.
However, the night took a worrying turn when McDonald exited in the third quarter and headed straight to the locker room. She finished with six points in Breeze BC’s 69–62 win over Phantom BC, a game powered by Bueckers’ 24-point performance.
With McDonald failing to return to the court, fans quickly expressed concern, especially given her recent recovery from injury. Those fears were later put to rest when McDonald addressed the situation directly on social media.
“Had a little scare last night. I’m all good y’all 😊,” she tweeted.
Although she did not provide specific details about the issue, her update reassured fans that the injury is not serious.
McDonald is now expected to be available on Friday, when Breeze BC face the Hive, a matchup that will see her go up against Indiana Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell.
Her swift reassurance suggests the setback was minor, allowing her comeback momentum to remain firmly on track.
