The Carolina Panthers are the definition of a rebuilding franchise.
They are coming off of a 2-15 season last year and haven’t made the playoffs in seven years.
First-year head coach Dave Canales has a lot of work to do to improve this team.
However, there are some analysts out there that think this team will be a lot better than people think.
NFL analyst Adam Chernoff recently had this to say on The Herd about what he thinks the Panthers could be this year:
“I think they’re a fringe NFC wild card team,” Chernoff said.

This might be one of the more wild predictions of the NFL offseason thus far.
The Panthers are in the basement of the league currently.
They have an anxious owner and an inexperienced roster.
Plus, they traded away their best defensive player in two-time Pro Bowl edge-rusher Brian Burns earlier this offseason to the Giants.
Christian McCaffrey has been gone for a few years now.
Former head coach Frank Reich was fired after just one year.
This just isn’t a very competitive team at the moment.
Sure, they made some nice moves by trading for Pro Bowl wide receiver Diontae Johnson and signing veteran edge-rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
However, this team still has a very long way to go.
They may definitely increase their win total from last season, but fans should look for Carolina to finish last in the division again and have a top-10 draft pick next offseason.
Chernoff’s expectations are a little too lofty.
