Aston Villa are playing Champions League football – in its fancy new format – for the 2024-25 season. Villa will be a part of a 36-team league table, of which the top eight advance into the last 16 automatically and the second half of the knock-out stage will be determined by another phase in which teams between 9th and 24th take each other on over two legs for the right to make the next round.
Villa will be in pot four when the draw is made. They’ll face two teams from each of the four pots, including the pot they themselves are in, and that’ll secure one away day against the crème de la crème of European football and will mean one of the biggest clubs in Europe will be visiting Villa Park, over the course of the ‘league’ campaign, too.
