The San Francisco 49ers just did right by their best offensive player.
Now, they must do the same for another one of their stars.
With Christian McCaffrey getting a contract extension it’s only right that they give a new deal to WR Brandon Aiyuk.
Aiyuk has made it loud and clear that he’s not satisfied with his current contract situation and his role in the offense, so it’s not much of a surprise to see that he hasn’t reported to OTAs.
Instead, the talented wideout continues to workout on his own, sharing a clip of his offseason workout captioned OTAs Day 5 (via Coach YAC).

Of course, everybody knows that most players workout on their own, so not being there for voluntary offseason practice doesn’t mean they’re not getting their reps or their job done every day.
Still, the offseason gives teams and players a perfect opportunity to bond, develop chemistry, correct some mistakes, and get everybody on the same page for when it matters the most.
Every rep and every day counts.
Aiyuk is coming off the best season of his career, and while he’s not the best player on the team, he’s certainly close to the top.
It doesn’t seem like he would be opposed to being traded if it came down to it, but with the Niners looking to stay at the top of the NFC, they would be wise to get a deal done.
