At this point, it seems fair to suggest the Braves will take a series however it comes without issue. And on Sunday, that is exactly what Charlie Morton delivered as he bounced back after a horrific outing to start the week against the Nationals. Yes, he did surrender five walks, but also only one hit and zero runs over six innings in a 3-1 win over the Athletics.
Another noteworthy development is that after the Braves scored nine runs in Saturday’s loss, they went 3-12 with runners in scoring position on Sunday. That may not seem significant, but with how bad the Braves have been in such situations in recent weeks, it is a noticeable improvement. Furthermore, the productivity of several hitters seems to be trending up, including Jarred Kelenic, Michael Harris II, and Matt Olson.
The Braves will enjoy a much needed off-day on Monday before they head out on the road.
