The Alabama Crimson Tide consistently feature at least one standout playmaker, and this season, that role belongs to 17-year-old wide receiver, who is impressing fans with his skills.
So far, Williams has amassed 462 receiving yards and five touchdowns in Alabama’s first four games, ranking second in the SEC for receiving yards and tied for second in touchdowns. He’s leading the nation in impressive performances for a player his age.
In a thrilling matchup between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama, Williams had a standout game with six receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown, which turned out to be the game-winner in Alabama’s 41-34 victory.
The game began with Alabama quickly establishing a 28-0 lead in the second quarter, but Georgia fought back, narrowing the gap. By the fourth quarter, Alabama was ahead 33-15 when Georgia surged ahead with 19 consecutive points, taking a 34-33 lead after a 67-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Bell.
However, on the next play, quarterback Jalen Milroe connected with Williams to reclaim the lead, and Alabama secured the win with an interception in the end zone.
After the game, the young star reflected on scoring the pivotal touchdown: “I can’t get tackled. I just had to do my part to help us finish that game. We’d come too far. Somebody had to make a play.”
While the latest AP Poll is pending, Williams’ touchdown is likely to elevate Alabama’s ranking above Georgia. This victory is significant for Alabama’s pursuit of the SEC Championship as they remain undefeated in conference play, with their next game against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
