The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed Marcus Haynes, a former pass rusher for the Denver Broncos. His return comes after Alex Highsmith suffered a groin injury that may keep him out for two to three weeks. Haynes will contribute to the scout team, and the Steelers might consider promoting Ade Ogundeji to assist with the outside linebacker rotation.
DeMarvin Leal and Nick Herbig are expected to see a significant increase in their playing time alongside T.J. Watt. Both Haynes and Ogundeji could also provide special teams support and might be elevated from the practice squad in the coming weeks.
With Haynes now on the practice squad, the Steelers have one open spot remaining, which they are likely to fill soon with a player at another position in need of reinforcement.
Haynes, who went undrafted from Old Dominion in the 2023 NFL Draft, originally signed with the Steelers toward the end of training camp. Since entering the NFL, he has also played for the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns.
