Prominent journalist discusses potential Canadiens trade as roster adjustments loom.
As Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton gear up for the upcoming Canadiens season, His name has emerged in trade discussions.
Media outlets frequently talk about the young defensemen vying for roster spots during training camp. According to HabsolumentFan, a veteran journalist has suggested that he might soon be leaving Montreal.
Is he excess to requirements in Montreal?
During a recent segment on BPM Sports radio, Mathias Brunet, a journalist with La Presse and host of the Processus podcast, indicated that he could be on the trading block.
He commented:
“I think they might look to trade him. It depends, but he still has some value. I don’t think they’ll part with him for just a second-round pick, especially since depth is crucial and there’s a lack of experience on the right side.
“The Canadiens likely believe there could be interest for a late first-round pick. Last year, we thought a late first-round pick was possible for Barron.
“Consider what Dallas gave up for Nils Lundkvist—a late first-round pick—despite Lundkvist being behind Barron in the pecking order.”
With Jordan Harris and Johnathan Kovacevic already traded this offseason, Barron could be the next player to exit the organization as the team makes room for Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, and David Reinbacher.
