Quarterback Malik Willis is expected to start again on Sunday when the Green Bay Packers face his former team, the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jordan Love is making progress in his recovery from an MCL sprain in his left knee, which he suffered late in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is officially listed as questionable for the upcoming game in Nashville.
While the Packers are keeping their quarterback plans under wraps, all indications suggest that Willis will lead the team against the Titans. Green Bay acquired him in a trade with Tennessee in late August, and with Love sidelined, Willis started last weekend’s 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, completing 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Willis has stated that he does not view Sunday’s game as a revenge match. The 2022 third-round pick had three starts for Tennessee, finishing with a 1-2 record. “No, I could care less,” Willis said. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I had there. That organization took a chance on me.”
Meanwhile, Love participated in all three practices this week, though in a limited capacity. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that they would wait until 90 minutes before kickoff to finalize their decision on Love’s status.
With Willis likely to start, attention will shift to the Packers’ Week 4 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on September 29, where Love might make his return.
Additionally, Green Bay has elevated QB Sean Clifford from the practice squad for the second consecutive week.
