Four-star big man has committed to Notre Dame, marking another significant addition for coach Micah Shrewsberry, who is on an impressive recruiting spree.
This week is especially exciting for the Irish, as Shrewsberry and his staff are experiencing a historic run in recruiting that the program has never seen before. Following three other four-star commitments in just seven days, Ahneman—ranked No. 106 overall—joins their 2025 class.
The 6-foot-10, 235-pound center announced his decision to 247Sports on Monday, choosing Notre Dame over Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and others. Ahneman praised the culture, the coaching staff, and Shrewsberry’s influence, stating, “I couldn’t believe how much I learned at practice. The players said they learn something from ‘Shrews’ every day, whether it’s about life or basketball.”
He also expressed excitement about being part of what could be one of Notre Dame’s best recruiting classes, highlighting the chance to compete in the ACC against top talent.
With Ahneman’s commitment, Notre Dame solidifies its lead in the 247Sports Recruiting Class rankings. The skilled player from Saint Paul’s Cretin Derham Hall discussed the appeal of Shrewsberry’s program, noting its strong culture and commitment to excellence.
Ahneman aims to bring a strong rebounding presence and a versatile offensive game, saying, “I can be a lob threat, shoot if needed, and play good defense. I’m committed to being the best teammate and making smart decisions. Winning is what matters, and that’s what Notre Dame represents.”
He joins five-star forward Jalen Haralson and four-star forwards Ryder Frost and Brady Koehler in the upcoming season.
