Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times during the New York Jets’ 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos and was seen limping in the fourth quarter, raising concerns among fans. Despite appearing injured, Rodgers downplayed the issue, acknowledging, “Yeah, I’m banged up a little bit,” but insisted he hadn’t suffered any serious harm.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh also reassured fans about Rodgers’ condition, attributing the limp to normal wear and tear and confirming that Rodgers is fine. However, Saleh pointed out that the team’s offensive struggles were partly due to Rodgers’ cadence, which contributed to multiple false start penalties.
Skeptical Jets fans remain unconvinced about Rodgers’ status, expressing concern on social media about his well-being. The alarm bells intensified in the final minutes when Rodgers was seen hobbling after a six-yard sack by Denver’s linebacker Jonah Elliss and defensive tackle Malcolm Roach. The play was initially thought to be a fumble but was ruled a down by contact.
Despite the pressure, Rodgers finished with 225 passing yards on 42 attempts. The Jets’ offensive line struggled, allowing five sacks, while the team managed 248 total yards compared to Denver’s 186, yet it wasn’t enough to win.
Reflecting on the game, Saleh noted the team’s good preparation and energy but acknowledged, “The reality is it was going to be tough sledding because of the rain,” while expressing disappointment over self-inflicted mistakes.
This loss puts the Jets at a 2-2 record, trailing the undefeated Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. The Jets are set to face the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings on October 6, with hopes that Rodgers will be ready to play.
