Star LSU linebacker exited the Tigers’ victory over UCLA in the fourth quarter after delivering a strong hit on a Bruins receiver. Before being helped off the field and into the medical tent, trainers assessed his right knee, but he was able to walk to the locker room on his own.
Coach Brian Kelly stated, “We’ll conduct all the diagnostic testing tonight and tomorrow, and we’ll have more information for you during our press conference on Monday.”
Last week, following their win against South Carolina, LSU shifted him to strongside linebacker and began testing a 4-3 defensive front, which they maintained against UCLA. The Tigers initially struggled to contain the Bruins’ offense but improved significantly in the second half.
After he left the field, safety Jardin Gilbert intercepted a pass, halting a UCLA drive and allowing LSU’s offense to extend their 31-17 lead.
“We can still use our buffalo package,” Kelly mentioned. “We can switch to our nine package and drop Major (Burns) down. We have plenty of options. We hope he’s alright and can return, but we can adapt our strategies if needed.”
