The Parramatta Eels are excited to announce that Rory Owen has signed a two-year extension, keeping her with the club until at least the end of 2026.
The RLPA 2024 Rookie of the Year made a strong impact in the NRLW this season, scoring a try on her debut in Round 1 against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium. The 20-year-old started every match at center, ending the season with five tries in nine games.
Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill expressed enthusiasm about Owen’s decision to stay, stating, “We’re thrilled that Rory has chosen to remain an Eel for the next two seasons. She’s a remarkable talent who has quickly made a name for herself as a future star in the sport.”
Owen shared her excitement about rejoining her teammates in the Blue & Gold next year, saying, “I’ve really enjoyed my first season in the NRLW and appreciate all the support from the Parramatta Eels, my teammates, and our fans.”
She also expressed gratitude for her coach, Steve Georgallis, and teammates Mahalia Murphy, Abbi Church, Kennedy Cherrington, and Rachael Pearson for their guidance during her inaugural year in rugby league.
“I believe I have a lot to contribute to the NRLW. I love the game and the atmosphere at the Eels, and I see great potential for growth in the league. I’m excited to be a part of it,” she said. “I’m proud to represent this club and look forward to wearing the Eels jersey again in 2025 and entertaining our passionate fans.”
