Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has recently received a trade proposal involving a top veteran, according to BPM Sports. He is reportedly active in trade discussions, possibly seeking to offload a veteran player with a significant contract.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are looking for a forward, preferably one with a higher salary, to help them meet the NHL’s salary cap floor.
In this context, BPM Sports host him Laraque put forward a trade idea between the Canadiens and Blue Jackets centered on him. This could be a chance for him to alleviate a challenging contract situation. he suggested that the Canadiens could “assist” Columbus in reaching the salary cap minimum.
However, I believe the cost associated with trading his contract is too high, especially considering his strong performance at the end of the 2023-2024 season. I also doubt that they would pursue this trade in the near term, as they don’t currently need to shed a large contract.
What are your thoughts on the proposal? Do you find it appealing?
