Quarterback Tyler Shough has traveled over 2,800 miles in search of a college football program he can truly call home. He has moved from the Oregon Ducks to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and now to the Louisville Cardinals, facing challenges at each stop.
Now on his third team, Shough is hoping this will be the right fit. With Louisville, he’s joined another program with a bird mascot and red colors. After two games this season, it seemed like he had finally found his place: the Cardinals were 2-0, ranked No. 19 in the nation, and Shough had already thrown for 581 yards and six touchdowns.
However, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets posed a significant challenge, having already disrupted Florida State’s season. The game remained surprisingly close through three quarters, with Shough managing only two touchdowns and the Yellow Jackets applying pressure. Things took a turn for the worse when Shough tripped over a lineman, resulting in a safety for Georgia Tech.
Despite this setback, Shough may have found the support he needed. The Cardinals’ defense stepped up, blocking a Georgia Tech field goal attempt and returning it for a touchdown, extending Louisville’s lead to 31-19 after a successful extra point.
Now in his sixth season of college football and on his third team, it seems Shough may have finally found the home he’s been searching for.
