WNBA legend Diana Taurasi has been linked with Caitlin Clark for quite some time now. Their joint conversation started when Taurasi took a subtle jab at Clark when she was entering the league.
Many thought that Clark would come into the WNBA and be an automatic superstar, but that hasn’t been the case. Clark has struggled in the efficiency categories, shooting 32.7% from three and 37.3% from the field. She may lead all rookies with 16.8 points and 6.3 assists, but there’s certainly been a learning curve for the No. 1 overall pick. Clark’s performance proved that Tauras’s comments had some truth to it. Prior to Clark’s entrance into the league, Taurasi said that “reality is coming” for the rookie out of Iowa.
The two went their separate ways, and there wasn’t too much conversation on their comparison, but then Clark was snubbed from the Team USA roster on Saturday. This led to major scrutiny of Taurasi, who will be making the trip to Paris, France, for the Summer Olympics. Taurasi is currently 42 years old. She’s on the tail end of her illustrious career. Fans believe she was the player who took Clark’s spot, and they’re infuriated with the fact that Clark won’t have that opportunity. WNBA fans made sure to share their true opinion on Taurasi while commenting on their first head-to-head matchup in the league
The two are scheduled to face off for the first time on June 30th, and fans are saying Clark is ready to give Taurasi a “40 piece” in the scoring column.
