The Chelsea rumor mill was abuzz with the news (“news”?) that we may or may not be in talks with Napoli over a potential deal for Victor Osimhen, but that all sounds a bit too fanciful for our new era anyway (and Osimhen’s agent has called much of it “fake news” as well).
So here’s something that seems a bit more our speed at the moment: a “concrete offer” for 21-year-old TSG Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier, as reported by Sky Sports Deutschland yesterday. Aston Villa have apparently also made an offer while Bayer Leverkusen are also “in the race”. Beier’s contract has a release clause of “around €30m”, so presumably — if this story is true — all of these teams are willing to pay up to that amount and now it’s up to Beier to figure out what he wants to do.
Beier, who burst onto the scene with a 16-goal maiden season in the Bundesliga, was first linked with Chelsea last month, when he was with the Germany national team at the European Championships. He would feature in just one game, playing about half an hour off the bench in a 1-1 draw in their final group game — just the second cap of his young career.
Signing of a player off of one good season at top level? That’s them BlueCo vibes, baby!
