Chelsea and Atlético Madrid appear to be finalizing the details of João Félix’s transfer from the latter to the former, which should (re-)unlock the transfer of Conor Gallagher from the former to the latter. The only true winner: PSR.
Gallagher had spent several days in Madrid the other week, ready to join Atléti, but after Samu Omorodion’s transfer going the other way collapsed, Gallagher got stuck in a bit of a limbo. Chelsea had brought him back, but have kept him training away from the first-team.
“He is training in this moment a little bit apart, he is doing some medical tests and some training. [He] is trying to find a solution with the club, so we will see what happens. […] Hopefully for Conor, his situation is going to finish where the player, the club, the manager, all the people involved; they are all happy.”

So now the move looks to be on again, with Chelsea getting Félix back instead of Samu. Is that better for us? Not so sure. Omorodion actually looked to maybe fill a gap at striker. It’s hard to see where or how Félix really fits in. Over to you, Enzo Maresca.
Some optimism this evening that an agreement can be found to unlock Gallagher/Felix deals. https://t.co/x3vIGe91RF

Rumors in Spain are putting Félix’s transfer in the €50m region, which is a bit more than what the Omorodion deal was (€40m), but the amortization figures between the two are not equal. The bigger issue with Félix are his wages; it’s unclear how that’s going to be solved to have him still fit within our new structure.
But other than that, this combo-deal looks to be happening. Yay?
