Chelsea’s biggest signing of the summer (so far?) joined training for the first time yesterday and ahead of this weekend’s opening match of the league season, has also had his shirt number confirmed by the club. Unlike the numbers worn in preseason, this one is official and set.
So, Pedro Neto will wear No.19, which was last seen on Armando Broja (before his loan to Fulham and now expected departure to shores unknown). Before Broja, the number more famously belonged to Mason Mount and prior to him, Diego Costa. And let’s not forget about Paulo Ferreira of course, plus the likes of Demba Ba, Tammy Abraham, Tore André Flo, and Neil Shipperley, who all had the number briefly at one time or another. There’s goals in this shirt, and hopefully Neto can net-o a few of them as well.
“My expectations for myself are always high. The expectations here are high, so I’m looking forward to showing people why I am here, and that I deserve to be at the very top level.”
