Chelsea are in talks with Qatar Airways and two other major airlines regarding a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal, football.london understands.
The Blues have started the 2024/25 season without a sponsor on their shirts, just like they did last campaign before Infinite Athlete agreed a one-year deal. Eight matches were played without a shirt sponsor before it appeared on the shirts.
Infinite Athlete now sponsor the club’s training top sleeve meaning the front-of-shirt sponsor remains open. football.london understands that the club are in talks with Qatar Airways, who have sponsored Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the past.
Sky Sports reported that the lack of Champions League football has been part of the delay in getting a new sponsor. A short-term deal has been the focus for the club hierarchy and progress has now been made.
Right now, Qatar Airways sponsors a number of sports teams across different sports. Inter Milan and PSG have an agreement with the airline currently.
The other two airlines are currently unknown but it’s understood that Qatar Airways remains in talks. Chelsea’s persistent desire not to sign a long-term contract comes down to the finances involved. As a Champions League team, the Blues would receive much more.
Chelsea’s Carabao Cup third round tie with Barrow makes it eight games that they have played without a front-of-shirt sponsor. Talks with Qatar Airways could mean we could see a new look strip sooner rather than later.
