Serhou Guirassy had himself a career year at age 27-28, scoring 30 goals in all competitions for Vfb Stuttgart this past season. His previous career high was 14, though he’s now managed double-digits in each of his past four seasons, two at Stade Rennais and two at Stuttgart.
In fact, we played against him and Rennes back in 2020, when he even scored against us. In years past, that would’ve been a good indication that we might take a good look at him, but these days, he’s just a bit too old for us. (He turned 28 in March, so, you know, better get that 401k retirement plan sorted.)
But that hasn’t deterred the rumor mill from linking us, and a whole host of others with him. According to Bild (via Metro), Chelsea, Arsenal, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund are all “in the race” for his signature.
Usually, when that many teams are credited with vague interest, it is nothing more than a bit of agenting, especially with Guirassy having just two years left on his current contract. Sounds like a fat new contract awaits him somewhere, including perhaps back at Stuttgart. That said, he’s apparently available for a “bargain price” of just €18-20m, which is indeed a bargain.
But probably not for us.
