According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are back in for Atletico striker Omorodion, after previously having a bid for him rejected earlier this summer. He claims the 20-year-old will cost approximately €50 million (£42.9m/$54.8m).
With Chelsea captain Gallagher set to travel to Madrid to complete his £34m ($43.4m) move to Atletico, the Blues may use those funds on a new forward. The Telegraph adds Atletico may allow Omorodion to leave if they can sign Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez. Moreover, for Chelsea, the report adds Enzo Maresca’s side have not ruled out signing the 6ft 4in attacker and Napoli star Victor Osimhen, too.
Omorodion, whose contract at Atletico runs until 2028, joined the Spanish team from Granada in 2023 but spent last season on loan at Alaves. He scored eight goals in 35 matches for the fellow La Liga team but is yet to play for Diego Simeone’s side.
While speculation over Omorodion’s future continues, Chelsea take on Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly on August 6, before hosting Inter Milan five days later. Atletico, on the other hand, lock horns with Kitchee and then Juventus on August 7 and 11 respectively.
