Part of Chelsea’s recruitment strategy is clearly to sign many young players that they can turn for a profit if they don’t end up making it at Chelsea.
And in fact, many of these players signed have no chance at all of even getting minutes for Chelsea let alone making at at the club.
Let’s be honest, Mason Burstow was never going to make it at Chelsea. I watched him during the pre-season last summer and he was completely out of his depth, and now it looks like he’s about to be sold by the club to Hull City!
Burstow was signed from Charlton Athletic in 2022 and then went back on loan there to make 9 more appearances. He then spent last season on loan at Sunderland, making 20 appearances but scoring just 1 league goal.
Burstow’s Chelsea dream over already

Interesting stuff indeed. I hope he goes on to do well. At least he’s been playing football still whilst he has been at Chelsea for two years so it wasn’t a waste of time for him.
At the age of 21 now, Burstow will need to shine at Hull so he can go on to make a decent career in professional football. Best of luck to him.
