Andrey Santos should join up with Strasbourg in the “coming hours” according to reports, with the French side currently training in the Black Forest.
Santos spent the second half of last season on loan with the Ligue 1 outfit, and after a slow start he made his mark and established himself as a key player under then manager Patrick Viera.
The Brazilian returned to Chelsea this summer, but it was announced earlier this month that he would spend next season back on loan with the French side.
Santos to join up with Strasbourg soon
It has been reported that Santos was going to complete pre-season with the Blues before joining up with Strasbourg.
The midfielder is currently in America on the club’s pre-season tour, and has featured in both their games so far against Wrexham and Celtic.
However, it appears he might not feature in any of Chelsea’s remaining tour games with Alsa Sports reporting that the 20-year-old is set to join up with Strasbourg in the “coming hours” at their training camp in the Black Forest.
If true , it would appear slightly strange given the fact it was reported Santos would complete pre-season with the Blues, but perhaps with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall ready to return to action Chelsea are happy to let him join up earlier with Strasbourg.
Santos is one of a number of signings from South America , with the club really tapping into that market under the new ownership, but the midfielder has yet to make his Chelsea debut and will have to wait at least another season for that chance.
It was thought that Santos could be given a chance in the squad this season given the amount of games Chelsea could have, doubts over the future of Conor Gallagher and their injury issues, but the signing of Dewsbury-Hall has seemingly put pay to that.
The Blues are thought to be big believes in Santos and ultimately another season playing week in week out is probably the best option for the Brazilian.
