Cole Palmer has sent a message after returning for his first day of pre-season training with Chelsea.
Palmer was granted extra time off during the summer after featuring in the England squad at Euro 2024.
The 22-year-old scored for the Three Lions in the final against Spain back in July but ended up on the losing side.
Chelsea have been in pre-season training for the past month, which has included a tour of the United States.
Tuesday night saw the Blues lose 2-1 to Real Madrid in Charlotte, North Carolina in their latest pre-season friendly and final game of their trip to the US.
Given Palmer’s participation at Euro 2024 with England, the playmaker was not part of the Chelsea squad that travelled across the Atlantic.
On Wednesday morning, Palmer posted an update on social media of his pre-season preparations.
Palmer posted a photo on his Instagram story of the Chelsea training facilities at Cobham. The 22-year-old included the caption: “Back at it”, which indicates that it could be his first day back in pre-season training with the Blues.
It remains to be seen when Enzo Maresca will want to introduce Palmer on the pitch. Chelsea will return home to face Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.
Maresca could give Palmer his first and only minutes of pre-season in the friendly against Inter this weekend. The Chelsea boss will want to have the playmaker fit and available for the start of the Premier League campaign.
The Blues kick off their top-flight season at home to reigning champions Manchester City on August 18. That will be followed by an away trip to Wolves the following weekend, but not before Chelsea have the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off at Stamford Bridge.
