Williams has been one of the stars of Euro 2024 with a series of impressive performances for Spain at the tournament.
The 21-year-old scored one and created another as Spain thrashed Georgia 4-1 in the first knockout round and La Roja next take on host nation Germany in a huge quarter-final match up on Friday evening.
The performances of Williams have attracted interest from top clubs across Europe and a release clause in his contract at Athletic Bilbao makes a deal viable. Barcelona have been heavily-linked with signing the winger but the Catalans appear likely to be priced out of a deal, leaving the path clear for Premier League interest.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Sport, Chelsea left-back Cucurella said he is trying to persuade Williams to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
“He is a great player. He is bringing out all his potential. He is a source of pride that he is on our team, that he is our teammate and with players like him everything is easier.
“He would be a great signing, but it all depends on what he wants to do. I’m pushing him to sign for Chelsea. In the end, it all depends on him. He’s very young, with a lot of experience, and I think he’ll be a great player.
“The good thing about them is that they do their own thing,” Cucurella continued when discussing the impact of Williams and fellow winger Lamine Yamal on the Spain team this summer.
“They don’t seem to care about anything, they play the game as if it were a training session or with friends. That makes them different, to play with this self-confidence and joy that people like. On top of that, if they play on your team, you enjoy them.”
