The Diamondbacks will be hosting ASU Night at Chase Field on Wednesday when they take on the New York Mets. Special ticket packages that include a co-branded ASU and Diamondbacks cap are sold out, but that’s not the full extent of the pregame festivities. Fans attending the game are advised to show up early.
As part of pregame festivities, which will start 30 minutes before first pitch, the Diamondbacks will honor current and former Sun Devil athletes. Some of the names expected to be recognized include newly-hired ASU athletic director Graham Rossini, starting pitcher Merrill Kelly (2019-present), baseball operations executive Cory Hahn, and former Diamondbacks infielder (2011-2013) and ASU head baseball coach Willie Bloomquist.
To conclude the pregame ceremonies, ASU National Wrestling Champion Richard Figueroa will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Earlier this year, Figueroa won the school’s first NCAA individual championship since 2019 and 10th overall in the program’s history.
Following the pregame festivities, the Diamondbacks will try to even up a critical three-game series that could put them in complete control for a Wild Card spot. They’ll be looking to shake off a tough loss in the first game of the series, in which their pitching and defense let them down in an 8-3 loss.
