Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell has been given the green light to leave the club by manager Enzo Maresca.
The 27-year-old defender was given limited game time during pre-season and was left on the bench during the recent friendly against Inter Milan.
And Maresca has now indicated that Chilwell doesn’t git into his future plans, stating: “At this moment, Chilly is with us. He has not been training in the past two days because he was a little bit ill.
“With Chilly it’s quite clear, I love the way he trains, I love the way he is but the problem is that he struggles with us a little bit to find his best position.
“When you train everyday and you don’t get minutes, it’s not good for them and it’s not good for me because I need to make decisions.
“For some players, it’s sometimes better to leave and to go somewhere to get minutes. We will see what happens, the transfer window is open and we will see what happens.”
Chilwell was absent from Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024. Manchester United, who are reportedly looking for a left-back, are said to be interested in him and Chelsea seem open to negotiations.
