There’s been plenty of talk around Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards given his performance in the 2024 NBA playoffs so far.
Edwards has put on Jordan-like performances through the T-Wolves playoff run that many compare to Michael Jordan himself. Even Edwards wants to pump the brakes on that comparison, but at least one ESPN NBA analyst thinks that he is becoming the new face of the NBA.
Austin Rivers thinks that Edwards is the new face of the league.
“He’s one of the first young stars that I’ve ever seen be coachable, likable,” said Rivers on First Take. “He has the aura. He has the smile. He has the charisma. … And he’s a three-level scorer.”

With the T-Wolves’ unexpected playoff run, Edwards has become the darling of the NBA playoffs. He and his teammates knocked off the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in a hard-fought battle. He’s endeared himself to not only NBA fans but NBA commentators who have fallen in love with his play and his heart.
Leading his team back from a 20-point deficit only adds to his legacy from now on. If he ends up leading his team to the NBA Championship, be prepared for him to become the darling of the NBA, if he isn’t already.
