Maybe it was planned and it is a coincidence, or maybe Florida Football was looking to generate any kind of positive press it could, but the Gators announced their themes for each home game during the 2024 season today.
Of note is when the Gators might bust back out their black uniforms.
Florida Football: Change It Up
For the most part there isn’t much ground breaking across the seven games that will played inside The Swamp. But according to their press release and subsequent Tweet, Florida will have a different theme for each game.
- Miami – The Swamp Opener
- Samford – 352 Community Day
- Texas A&M – Championship Reunion & UF Family Weekend
- UCF – UF Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day
- Kentucky – Homecoming, UF Athletic Hall Of Fame & Gatormade Week
- LSU – Saluting Those Who Serve
- Ole Miss – Senior Day
It is notable that Homecoming will be against Kentucky rather than UCF, given that on paper Florida will have a better shot against the Knights than the Wildcats. But perhaps sensing the potential for a large contingent of UCF fans in Gainesville the powers that be opted for Kentucky.
The other notable game is LSU being the Saluting Those Who Serve game. It was this game last season where Florida opted to wear black uniforms for the first time in program history. The uniforms didn’t work by the way as Florida lost to Arkansas after not knowing when to run onto the field to kick a field goal.
If you are keeping track at home, we are just 100 days away from opening kickoff against Miami.
Ready for @gatorsfb in The Swamp 🤩
