New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was asked over night who his club captain is going to be going into the new season ahead.
The new Chelsea campaign starts in the early hours of tomorrow morning with the first pre-season friendly against Wrexham in the USA.
Maresca spoke to the media in the early hours of this morning ahead of the game, followed by the club captain from last season, Reece James.
But is James going to stay as captain?
It seems so…. We think!
“For sure, James will be one of the captains,” Maresca replied when asked who will be his club captain next season. “He has already been in the past. I want him again to be one of the leaders of this team. I like players who take responsibility.”
But James says he hasn’t been told yet.
“You probably know better than me,” James replied when asked if he was captain this season. “Directly I haven’t been told if I will be captain. I am not the one who makes the decision.”
