The Giants begin a three-game series tonight in Atlanta against a Braves team decimated by injuries and slow starts to key veterans. Ronald Acuna Jr. is out of the season. Slow starts by Austin Riley, Max Fried, and Matt Olson have hampered their ability to keep pace with the Phillies. Then there is the arm injury to Spencer Strider, their ace. With all of these setbacks the Braves have the recipe for a down season by a team that could normally be a World Series favorite. Nevertheless even with their 46-36 record good for second place in the National League East but eight games behind the Phillies, the Braves are team to be reckoned with.
Marcel Ozuna leads the Braves offense with 21 homers and 67 RBIs. What an outfield that Marlins team had?!?! When you consider they developed Ozuna, Stanton and Chrstian Yelich and then had them in their primes!!?! WOW! Anyway, I digress.
Tonight’s pitching matchup is listed as Hayden Birdsong (0-0,5.79) against Reynaldo Lopez (6-2, 1.70).
