Gurriel drives the D-backs’ late comeback to win the series.
The crowd at loanDepot park booed D-backs manager Torey Lovullo when he pinch-hit Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for hometown hero Adrian Del Castillo with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning.
But there were plenty of cheers from D-backs fans when Gurriel cleared the bases with a double to center, capping a four-run rally as Arizona completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins, 10-8, on Wednesday night.
The late rally helped the D-backs overcome a poor start from Jordan Montgomery, who allowed six runs over 5 2/3 innings.
The Marlins led 6-3 after putting together a four-run fourth inning, but their bullpen could not keep the D-backs at bay.
Jesus Tinoco and Andrew Nardi combined to walk three batters during Arizona’s four-run seventh inning, with all three coming around to score.
