New Chelsea signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall believes Enzo Maresca has got an “aura” and that you listen to what he’s saying.
Dewsbury-Hall followed Maresca in making the move from the King Power to Stamford Bridge after leaving his boyhood club in a deal worth £30m, and signing a five year contract in west London.
The 25-year-old knows Maresca well having won the Championship last season with Leicester, and the midfielder contributed with 12 goals and 14 assists.
Dewsbury-Hall opens up on Maresca
Dewsbury-Hall appears to have settled into his new surroundings well and it certainly helps that he knows the manager, as well as already having a couple of friends in the squad in Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana, who he knows from his time at Leicester.
The former Leicester man is currently in America with the rest of the squad on the club’s pre-season tour but didn’t feature against Wrexham due to a slight niggle.
He will be hoping to play a part against Celtic on Saturday, in what would be the first time the fans get to see Dewsbury-Hall in action.
Despite being a new signing Dewsbury-Hall finds himself in a position where he actually knows the manager better than most of the squad.
The midfielder has been speaking about Maresca and said that the 44-year-old has got an aura about him, but can be very strict.
“He has got an aura, you listen to what he is saying,” he told Mail Sport.
“He can be very strict, then he’s got a gentle, human side to him where you can go and talk to him as a person, he was a player for 20 years so he knows what it is like.”
Dewsbury-Hall faces stiff competition for a place in Chelsea’s starting eleven given the amount of options in the middle of the park, and he’s likely to be competing for one place in midfield given Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are both expected to start.
Having said that, with the amount of games the Blues could face this season there will be plenty of opportunities for Dewsbury-Hall to get minutes and show he deserves to be a starter.
