The Blues are in the market for a centre back, following the departure of Thiago Silva and the uncertainty surrounding the future of Trevoh Chalobah.
It appears they have found their man with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming the Blues are closing in on a deal to sign Adarabioyo.
The move makes sense considering Adarabioyo wouldn’t cost anything, his wages aren’t huge and he has Premier League experience, so from that perspective it’s a smart move.
However, how much he would play remains to be seen, but he does compare favourably against Disasi and Chalobah, who if he stays he will likely be competing against.
The stats show the 26-year-old is of a similiar profile to Disasi and made more interceptions and clearances per 90 minutes than Chalobah and Disasi last campaign.
The reality is most Chelsea fans would prefer Disasi to leave and Chalobah to stay, but the likelihood of that happening appears slim.
Adarabioyo appears to be a solid performer, and came through the Manchester City academy, so it’s clear Joe Shields and Enzo Maresca are probably both aware of his qualities as a player.

#ObjectiveOpinion: Acquiring Tosin Adarabioyo for £0 is a fantastic business move. Based on data from three different platforms, Adarabioyo and Disasi have similar profiles, while Chalobah's profile differs. Who should leave Chelsea?
