Enzo Maresca has enjoyed a good start to life as Chelsea manager and has recently opened up on the importance of the relationship with the supporters.
Maresca was appointed as a surprise successor to Mauricio Pochettino in the summer after guiding Leicester to the Championship title last season.
Chelsea have certainly taken a gamble on the 44-year-old, but they clearly believe in him as they offered him a five year contract.
Maresca speaks on the importance of having a relationship with the fans
Maresca has adapted to life in the Premier League well so far with Chelsea sitting fourth and the Blues are unbeaten since the opening day of the season.
The Italian recently revealed he had no doubts about taking the job this summer and was also named Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
Chelsea face a tough trip to Liverpool on Sunday and Maresca gave some insight into how Chelsea will approach the game, with supporters hoping to see the Blues get a first win at Anfield since 2021.
It’s been a difficult last two seasons for the fans with the difficulties both on and off the pitch, but Maresca has recently spoken on the importance of having a relationship with the fans.
“[The relationship with the supporters] is very important,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“I really like it at home and away but if we can build something important with them at home, I think it will be fantastic for us because we need them during the season, for sure, like we needed them the other day [against Forest]. We needed them for the last push and we were very close. We didn’t win but they were there supporting us.
“For the fans, it is nice to be proud of the players. When you see your team and your players fighting and trying to win the game, it is a good moment for the fans.
“This is what we ask of the players: ‘Just go outside and give everything because there are fans there that want to be proud of you’, and this is what they are doing now.’”
