Temi Fagbenle is excited for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever to get another shot at the Las Vegas Aces. She indirectly blamed Saturday’s blowout loss on the grueling schedule to begin the WNBA season.
However, the 31-year-old remains confident that all of the right things are coming together in Indianapolis.
Fagbenle posted to her Instagram story on Sunday nig
ht. The loss to the reigning back-to-back champions left a sour taste in her mouth. She looks forward to their next matchup on July 2.
To play seven games in 12 days is in fact no bloody joke. However, it is something that all WNBA teams have to do at some point. Indiana, likely because of Caitlin Clark and wanting to get her on the court as much as possible, just happened to get the tough stretch of games early.
And to Fagbenle’s credit, she’s not necessarily whining about the Indiana Fever’s schedule— just pointing it out. She also most recently spent the last seven years of her career overseas, so the adjustment back to the WNBA hit even harder.
Unfortunately, there won’t be much time for rest any time soon!
The Fever played on Saturday and got two days of rest. They pick back up on Tuesday, then Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. At that point, the team will be off until the following Friday.
Fagbenle also posted a quote that served as a self-affirmation.
“You are the greatest project you’ll ever work on. Restart. Reset. Refocus. As many times as you need. Just don’t give up.”
