According to Fabrizio Romano, the two teams are inching closer to an agreement for Felix and Gallagher, there were ‘positive’ talks on Friday, and the Portuguese international has said yes to contract terms at Stamford Bridge. It is also said that rumours of a £51 million ($66m) fee are not true, but all parties are working to get these transfers sorted this weekend.
Gallagher has been in limbo after seemingly being set to sign for Atletico, only to return to England as the Spanish team stalled on a deal. The transfer hit a snag after Samu Omorodion’s proposed transfer from Atletico to Chelsea broke down, but after these new talks, a resolution for the unwanted duo may be found.
While Chelsea have only recently jettisoned academy product Gallagher from the first-team, Felix has been looking for an Atletico exit for years. Just over two years on from signing for the Spanish outfit for £113 million ($146m), the ex-Benfica star fell out with manager Diego Simeone in late 2021 and they have been at loggerheads ever since.
While both teams try and get these deals finalised, Chelsea begin their Premier League season at home to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, whereas Atletico start their La Liga campaign away at Villarreal on Monday night.
