Per a statement by the Cowboys, the team placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on injured reserve due to a wrist injury. The Giants traded Phillips to the Cowboys in August. He had one tackle in the Cowboys Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Phillips cannot play for the Cowboys until at least Oct. 27 when they play the San Francisco 49ers.
The Cowboys poached Carlos Watkins off the Commanders
Per the statement, the team poached Carlos Watkins off the Commanders’ practice squad.
Watkins should be a familiar name to Cowboys fans. He played for Dallas in 2021 and 2022. He had a career year with the Cowboys in 2021, recording 32 tackles, and a pick 6. It would make sense why Watkins would end up with Dan Quinn to start the season.
Watkins, at 30, has played eight seasons in the league. He’s started in 37 games and appeared in 72. He’s made six career sacks, 139 tackles, and one forced fumble.
Watkins was drafted by the Houston Texans in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
